Sharon Thorp
Trainee Paralegal

I left school at the age of 16 with 9 'O' levels and 5 CSE's and attended Stuart's Commercial College where I gained distinctions in a number of secretarial and administration management courses. Upon completing my course, I was employed as an Office Junior at a local firm of solicitors. The admin work there covered various areas of law including Criminal, Matrimonial, Conveyancing and Probate. This broad experience gave me a good understanding of how a Solicitors' Practice is run and prepared me for my future career in legal admin. After this firm grounding, I then moved on and became a Legal Secretary to a partner at another generalist practice. I joined Whiteheads' in 2002 initially as an audio-typist and have worked my way up to my current role, where I supervise the secretarial and support staff. All in all, I have 22 years of legal admin experience.
Best achievement to date: My best achievements to date are giving birth to two wonderful children
Favourite place: My favourite place would have to be my local pub. It's full of very interesting (some crazy) and very friendly people who I like to let my hair down with at the weekend
Favourite thing: My favourite thing would have to be my gold amethyst ring, a family heirloom
Least favourite thing: My least favourite thing is FISH! I hate anything that hails from the sea!
